The Belagavi district central cooperative bank has achieved significant success in the last year, its office bearers said in Belagavi on Thursday.
Bank president Appasaheb Kulgude said it achieved a net profit of ₹33.11 crore and gained a share capital of ₹303 crore in the past year. Last year’s profit was ₹30.57 crore.
“It has collected deposits of ₹6,087 crore and investments of up to ₹2,276 crore. It has given external loans of ₹1,664 crore and member loans of ₹5,893 crore. It has achieved a net profit of ₹33.11 crore and has a working capital of ₹8,593 crore. Gross NPA is 2.07%,” he said.
According to him, the bank was making steady progress year after year. It earned the trust of farmers and customers by earning high profits.
MLA and director Balachandra Jarkiholi said that new schemes would be implemented to benefit farmers and new technological tools would be utilised to facilitate. “We have given a large number of loans and recovered them in time. There are no dues from any factory or institution. Individual loans are being followed up,” he said.
The bank completed its centenary a few years ago. But it was not celebrated due to the COVID lockdown. We have decided to hold a ceremony in the presence of central and state leaders in the coming May-end or the first week of June, the MLA said. “Efforts will be made to increase the bank’s profit by increasing the deposit. All the branches in the district will be provided with various facilities, including furniture, uniform lime, paint, and other materials,” he said.
Bank director and former MP Annasaheb Jolle said that BDCC Bank had the distinction of giving the highest loan to farmers in the state. Under the current scheme, a target of ₹3,175 crore was given to disburse short-term crop loans. But our bank has disbursed ₹3,475.66 crore to 4,88,379 farmer members of the district, achieving 109.47 percent, exceeding the target. Last year, ₹3,060.42 crore was distributed to 4,68,775 farmer members. This year, 19,604 new members have been given loans. ₹415.24 crore has been given more crop loans, he said.
Mr. Jolle said the refinance funds from NABARD were steadily falling. Our bank was eligible for ₹1,270 crore refinance under the NABARD Punar Dhan Loan Scheme, but last year it got only ₹774 crore. In the current financial year, we got ₹313 crore less than that, he said.
However, despite this constraint, we have issued loans of ₹415.24 crore to farmers. The recovery rate of these loans is 99.22%. BDCC is the bank that has given the highest crop loans in the state, Mr. Jolle said.
“In order to benefit the farmers of the district, loans of up to ₹15 lakh are being given at an interest rate of 3% for the purchase of tractors, trailers, agricultural equipment, irrigation pipelines and pump sets. Over ₹161.48 crore has been disbursed to 2014 farmer members for the purchase of tractors, ₹1,790 crore to 378 farmer members for pipelines, and ₹3.64 crore to 609 farmers for dairy farming. The loan recovery rate is 99.78%,” he said.
Due to the trust placed by the farmers, cooperatives, and customers in the bank, this year the deposit of ₹6,087 crore has been collected, which has increased by ₹290 crore this year. Compared to last year, the working capital has increased by 8.84%.
The bank has disbursed a total of ₹1,486.96 crore to eight cooperative sugar factories and 15 private sugar factories, out of which the working capital loan is ₹877.15 crore, and the term loan is ₹608.91 crore. However, due to reduced sugarcane crushing, it was difficult to recover a total of around ₹360 crore in principal and interest payments that were due this year.
Mobile banking service has been started for the convenience of customers. He said that online banking services like IMPS, UPI, Google Pay, Phone Pay etc. will be started soon.
Permission has been obtained to start nine new branches in the district. They will come up in Badal Ankalagi, Hudali, Belagundi , Naganur of Bailahongal taluk, Ambadagatti Kalabambi of Kittur taluk, Nasalapur, Nipanal of Raybag taluk, Kakkeri of Khanapur taluk.
