BHOPAL: There was fog for the second consecutive day in Bhopal on Thursday. Visibility in the morning hours was 600 meters. A possibility of rain existed for Bhopal on Friday and Saturday.
The meteorological dept stated that a cyclonic circulation lay over north Punjab and the neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. The subtropical westerly jet stream with core winds of up to 203 kmph at 12.6 km above mean sea level continued to prevail over northwest India.
A cyclonic circulation persisted over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and extended up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. A western disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level ran roughly along longitude 60° east to the north of latitude 30° north.
The day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees more than the normal mark, while the night temperature in the city was 14.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees more than the normal mark. A minimum temperature of 11 degrees was recorded in Naogaon.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Friday, the meteorological dept stated there would be a partly cloudy sky with shallow fog in the morning hours. The day and night temperatures would be 24 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively, while the average wind speed would be fourteen kilometres per hour.
In the forecast for the state, the meteorological dept issued a warning of thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, and Sheopur dists. A warning of shallow to moderate fog at isolated places was issued for Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, and Chhatarpur dists.
A possibility of rainfall or drizzle with thunderstorms/lightning was underlined for Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani and other districts.
