PATNA: A woman killed her husband by attacking him with a knife on his private parts and hitting his head with a brick in Vaishali district on Holi, Saturday. The incident took place in Bhatauli village under the Kartaha police station area.
According to the police, the couple—Mithilesh Paswan (35) and Priyanka Devi—had a heated argument on Holi day over a phone conversation. Priyanka was allegedly talking to her lover, which Mithilesh objected to.
The argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, Priyanka attacked Mithilesh with a knife, stabbing him in the groin. He was rushed to Lalganj Referral Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police were informed and subsequently arrested Priyanka Devi. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital.
SDPO Gopal Mandal stated, “On the occasion of Holi, a dispute arose between the husband and wife over some issue. The wife attacked her husband with a knife on his private parts and hit his head with a brick. He died during treatment at the hospital. The accused wife has been taken into custody, and she has admitted to killing her husband. The police are further investigating the matter.”
The deceased’s sister-in-law (bhabhi) recounted, “When Mithilesh came home after playing with colors, he and his wife began arguing. Hearing the commotion, I stepped outside and saw them fighting. When I asked about the reason for the quarrel, neither of them told me anything. After calming them down, I went back to my room.”
Later, the argument escalated again, and Priyanka struck Mithilesh on the head with a brick. She then cut his private parts with a knife and locked him in a room. As she attempted to leave the house with her three children, she was brought back.
“Despite my persistent questioning, Priyanka didn’t tell me what had happened. Much later, she said, ‘Your brother-in-law is no more.’ When I rushed to the room, it was locked. With the help of local residents, we got him out. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, but the doctor declared him dead. We then informed the police,” the sister-in-law added.
