NEW DELHI: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has accused BJP-led central govt of conspiring against CM Atishi and arrest her in a fake case. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal alleged that a fake case is being made out in transport department of Delhi govt to stop free travel for women in public buses.
“I have confirmed information from sources that a meeting took place between CBI, ED and Income Tax on the direction from top to make a fraud case against Atishi. They will first raid the entire senior leadership of AAP and then arrest CM Atishi,” Kejriwal alleged.
“BJP is rattled by registrations for these schemes Delhi cabinet has already approved the Rs 1000 allowance and a notification has been issued.”
Atishi said she was not afraid of going to jail if arrested and expressed confidence that she will get bail in the fake case. “But I assure you that Delhi’s free schemes will not stop. The free travel for women in public buses will continue,” the chief minister said.
Replying to a query on a public notice issued by the department of women and child development that the Mahila Samman Yojana was not in existence, Atishi called the advertisement “false” and said action will be taken against erring officials.
“The Delhi cabinet has already passed an order to provide Rs 1000 per month as financial assistance to women and it has also been notified. Arvind Kejriwal has given a guarantee that after AAP is re-elected in upcoming assembly polls, the amount will be increased to Rs 2100. It is our guarantee that people aged above 60 will get free treatment in private and govt hospitals. It is our election promise,” Atishi said.
Kejriwal added that his govt delivered on all election promises it made earlier including free electricity, free water, free pilgrimage to senior citizens and free travel to women in buses, and people of Delhi trusted his govt.
“That is why there is a long queue of people to register for these schemes. We have already registered 12.5 lakh women for the mahila samman yojana and 1.5-1.75 lakh senior citizens for Sanjeevani scheme,” Kejriwal said.
“BJP had failed to deliver on any of its poll promises,” he added.
