Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor R.N. Ravi, and BJP State president K. Annamalai were working against the interests of Tamil Nadu by opposing the two-language policy. The policy, according to him, has resulted in consistent and sustainable growth of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, Mr. Selvaperunthagai said Tamil Nadu is ahead of Hindi-speaking States such as Uttar Pradesh, which continued to implement a “single-language policy”.
“Tamil Nadu scored 80.2 points in a recent study on development. The State has emerged as a leading State in India in terms of sustainable and consistent development. While it has firmly established itself as a stronghold of human development, social justice, and progress, the Hindi-speaking State of Uttar Pradesh, which continues to implement a one-language policy, has received only 56.4 points. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh has scored 56.8, and Bihar remains severely underdeveloped with just 43.2 points. The study confirms this stark contrast,” he said.
He further slammed the Union government for levying 18% Goods and Services Tax on revenue-generating temples operated by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
