Reacting to BJP MLC C.T. Ravi’s criticism that the recent State Budget is designed to appease minorities, Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil has said that BJP leaders have no work, except levelling baseless charges against the government.

Addressing a press conference in the Congress office in Kalaburagi on Sunday, Dr. Patil said that the word, minorities, does not denote only Muslims but that there are other notified minorities, including Jains, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis and Sikhs.

“Budget is not just about finances. It is a reflection of the State’s priorities, investment in various sectors but the BJP leaders do not understand economics and make such statement for their selfish motives,” Dr. Patil said.

Replying to questions on the party’s internal rumblings as mentioned by All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge in his speech during the launch of Kalyana Patha Scheme in Jewargi taluk, Dr. Patil ruled out any differences within the Congress unit in the State.

Dr. Patil clarified that there will be no change of Chief Minister in the State for any reason. As per the directions of AICC president [Mr. Kharge], all leaders will work unitedly for the overall development of the State, he said.

Member of Legislative Assembly Allamprabhu Patil and Member of Legislative Council Jagdev Guttedar were present.
