NEW DELHI: Citing several measures taken by the Narendra Modi govt for empowerment of the tribal community, BJP on Thursdayrejected the allegation that ED action against JMM leader Hemant Soren was “anti tribal” as it asserted that be it Soren or other opposition parties, their concern was not about the welfare of tribals, but plunder of public money.
At a press conference, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said BJP is committed to the welfare of the tribal community as he pointed out that the country’s President is a tribal and a number of welfare measures have been launched for the community, besides the celebrations that have been initiated to celebrate tribal icon Birsa Munda’s anniversary as “Adivasi Samman Diwas”.
“Hemant Soren is completely immersed in corruption. They took over Army land by making fake documents. After the arrest of Hemant Soren, the allegations being made against the govt by his supporters are completely baseless,” Prasad said.
The former Union minister said that the Modi govt has played a big role bringing to the fore contributions of the tribal society by establishing the Birsa Munda Museum.
