“I have been battling cancer for the last six months. Now, I feel that the time has come to tell the people,” the 72-year-old leader posted on his official X handle.
Lalu among first to send SuMo ‘get well’ message
When the BJP didn’t renominate Sushil Modi during the Rajya Sabha polls last February, there was speculation about him being sidelined. He had been elected to the Rajya Sabha in December 2000, filling the vacancy created by the death that year of LJP founder president and former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad was among the first to react to news of Sushil Modi’s illness. “I have known him for 50 years and pray to God that he gets well soon and becomes active in public life so that everyone can benefit from his political experience,” Lalu said.
BJP’s Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde wished SuMo a speedy recovery. “People’s blessings are with you. We hope that you will soon recover and join us in public service,” Tawde wrote on X.
