2023 was the year when Bollywood bounced back. It made up for the year before that, which wasn’t favourable as a number of films became successful, out of which few became one of the biggest blockbusters. Along with box office success, the year also saw artistes from various departments of filmmaking shining. Hence, Bollywood Hungama has decided to honour them through this list of the Best of 2023.
Bollywood Hungama Best of 2023: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani rules the music honours
The Part 1 of this segment honours the musical triumphs of 2023. Along with becoming a major blockbuster at the box office, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal also scored high in its music. Hence, Animal is adjudged as the Best Soundtrack.
The ever-soulful Arijit Singh is adjudged Best Playback Singer (Male) for the hit track ‘Tum Kya Mile’ from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The Best Playback Singer (Female) is given to Shilpa Rao for the famous track ‘Besharam Rang’ from Pathaan. The song ‘Chaleya’ from Jawan is adjudged Best Song.
Ganesh Acharya is given the Best Choreography honour for the hit track ‘What Jhumka’ from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Amitabh Bhattacharya is given the Best Lyricist honour for the romantic track ‘Tum Kya Mile’ from the same film.
Best Soundtrack – Animal
Pritam, Vishal Mishra, Manan Bhardwaj, Shreyas Puranik, Jaani, Bhupinder Babbal, Ashim Kemson, Harshwardhan Rameshwar and Gurinder Seagal’s music in Animal became a rage. No wonder Animal is the much-deserved Best Soundtrack of the year. The soundtrack has become the flavour of the season. Of all the songs, ‘Hua Main, ‘Saaru Duniya’, ‘Arjan Valliy’ and ‘Jamal Kudu’ have become like anthems.
Best Playback Singer (Male) – Arjit Singh – Tum Kya Mile – Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
Arijit Singh has become an unofficial specialist in singing deep and, mostly, sad romantic numbers. But his energetic vocals in the high-pitched romantic song ‘Tum Kya Mile’ turned out to be enjoyable as well as moving. Sonu Nigam’s ‘Papa Mer Jaan’ from Animal and B. Praak’s ‘Saari Duniya’ from the same album also came very close to give Arijit Singh a close fight.
Best Playback Singer (Female) – Shilpa Rao – Besharam Rang – Pathaan
‘Besharam Rang’ isn’t all about Deepika Padukone. The film reached this height because of the smooth vocals of Shilpa Rao. She just delved deep into the heady track.
Best Song – Chaleya – Jawan
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan was primarily an action movie. But it’s also known for its romantic track ‘Chaleya.’ The song also showed composer Anirudh Ravichander’s versatility along with Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao’s vocal talent.
Best Choreography – Ganesh Acharya – What Jhumka – Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
The peppy music of ‘What Jhumka’ is matched very well by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s energetic dance steps that were choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. The steps are a must in every wedding function.
Best Lyrics – Amitabh Bhattacharya – Tum Kya Mile – Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
Any romantic Hindi movie is incomplete without its share of romantic songs, especially if it’s directed by Karan Johar. Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya fulfilled that demand with ‘Tum Kya Mile.’
