Kansas City Chiefs’ stellar season and Brittany Mahomes’ call for equal support for KC Current

Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife and a passionate sports advocate, has used her platform to direct some of this attention to another Kansas City team – the Kansas City Current, a professional women’s soccer team competing in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The Kansas City Current, co-founded by Brittany Mahomes in 2020 in partnership with Annie and Chris Long from Palmer Square Capital Management, has been a project close to her heart. Building a robust support system for the team, Brittany has encouraged fans to rally around the Current, especially as they gear up for their crucial quarterfinal match against the North Carolina Courage on November 9 in the NWSL playoffs. On social media, she passionately urged fans, stating, “Let’s gooooo KC!!! Show up Saturday and be loud!!!” Her words reflect her dedication to seeing the franchise flourish, urging fans to bring the same energy to the Current that the Chiefs often receive.

Patrick Mahomes also joined the ownership group of the Current in 2023, underscoring the commitment he and Brittany share toward promoting women’s sports in Kansas City. Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Patrick noted, “I am thankful for the chance to join Brittany Mahomes as part of the KC Current ownership team,” appreciating the efforts made by his wife and the Longs in building a premier organization with championship potential.
While Brittany champions the Current’s playoff push, Patrick remains focused on maintaining the Chiefs’ unbeaten run, preparing for their upcoming Week 10 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Through their efforts, both Patrick and Brittany are not only strengthening Kansas City’s sports scene but also amplifying the impact of women’s sports, showcasing a city united by diverse athletic ambitions.
