RAIPUR: Dipanshi Netam, a tribal athlete from Chhattisgarh, secured a gold medal at the 32nd Junior National Fencing Championship 2024 in Patna, Bihar, held from December 2 to 5. She triumphed in the Foil event by defeating Haryana’s Prachi in a closely contested match with a score of 15-13.
In her journey to the finals, Dipanshi demonstrated remarkable skill by winning against Delhi’s Mehra Eva (15-04), Maharashtra’s Bhojane Kanak (15-10), Kerala’s Roophus Aanjya (15-04), and Haryana’s Kanupriya (15-10). She then advanced to the finals after overcoming Kerala’s S Joyece Asthita in the semi-finals with a score of 15-13.
Dipanshi’s impressive competitive record includes a silver medal at the 31st Junior National Championship in Raipur and a bronze medal at the 33rd Senior National Championship in Assam. Additionally, she earned a silver medal at the BRICS Sports Games Kazan 2024, an international multi-sports event.
