MUMBAI: Claiming that the copy of notification handed to Manoj Jarange “lacked clarity”, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole on Saturday said the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government has misled both the Maratha and OBC communities for obvious political reasons. He also said both deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were conspicuous by their absence on the day.
Patole said the agitation launched by Jarange has come to an end after the CM presented him with a copy of the notification, but the contents of the notification has raised more doubts on providing reservation.
“Government has failed to accept the demand of the Maratha community to grant Kunbi certificates to all Marathas. If government is planning to give reservation to the Marathas from the Kunbi quota, then it is misleading the OBCs. Government has issued one notification and has called for objections and suggestions on it. It has not issued a resolution or ordinance. It was a clear attempt to mislead the Maratha community,” said Patole.
Patole said it was high time CM clarified from which category government was planning to give reservation to the Maratha community.
