The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), questioning its sincerity on the Kancha Gachibowli lands and asked how did the luxurious apartment belonging to My Home group, abutting the same land parcel, got permissions and environmental clearances during the BRS regime.

TPCC media and communications chairperson Sama Rammohan Reddy said at least the BRS now officially admitted that the 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli belonged to the State government. He said the BRS in its representation to the High Powered Committee, argued it was “deemed to be forest”. What stopped the BRS government from officially declaring it when they were in power? “What did they want to do with this land? Construct another MyHome luxurious apartment as they did already.” he charged.

Mr. Reddy also alleged that the BRS government forced University of Hyderabad to fell naturally grown trees to plant the saplings for their Haritha Haram project. Today, none of these plants survived for which hundreds of trees were uprooted. “KCR himself went to University of Hyderabad to plant saplings in 2015-16. Are you ready to debate on this Harish Rao,” he asked.

Accusing the BRS of conspicuous hypocrisy, he asked whether they did not oversee massive urban expansion in Hyderabad, including projects when in power. Did they conduct an EIA for even major projects? Isn’t it a fact that then BRS government allocated lands for commercial purposes, such as mining or industrial estates, during its tenure? he asked.
