LUCKNOW: The consecration of Ram Lalla’s idol on Jan 22 will begin with ‘Mangal Dhwani’, for which more than 50 different musical instruments will be played together for two hours.
The instruments will represent different areas of the country and include the pakhawaj, flute, dholak, veena, sundari, algoza and mardal. The performance will start at 10am and continue till the start of the ceremony.
The ‘Mangal Dhwani’, or the auspicious sound, will symbolise the diverse traditions of India and has been conceived by author and expert on Ayodhya, Yatindra Mishra.He has been assisted by Delhi’s Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi in this project.
“In Indian culture, ‘Mangal Dhwani’ is composed to bring joy and to mark the auspiciousness of an occasion. It is produced before the deity. In this context, the consecration ceremony is a proud moment for every Indian, and to mark this grand occasion, traditional musical instruments from various regions and states of India will be played to produce ‘Mangal Dhwani’ in front of Shri Ram Lalla,” said Champat Rai, secretary general of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The consecration ceremony will also conclude with the playing of 25 prominent and rare musical instruments from different states.
Listing out the instruments that will be played in the temple courtyard during the event, an official said that these include pakhawaj, flute, and dholak of Uttar Pradesh, veena of Karnataka, sundari of Maharashtra, algoza of Punjab, mardal of Odisha, santoor of Madhya Pradesh, pung of Manipur, nagada and kali of Assam, tambura of Chhattisgarh, pakhawaj of Bihar, shehnai of Delhi, ravanahatha of Rajasthan, srikhol and sarod of Bengal, ghatam of Andhra Pradesh, sitar of Jharkhand, santar of Gujarat, nagaswaram, tavil, mridang and hudka of Uttarakhand.
Skilled and renowned performers of these musical instruments have been selected to perform at the event.
