A 25-year-old man was allegedly killed by his parents in Rayachoti town of Annamayya district on Wednesday (January 15). The victim, identified as Charan, was reportedly strangled to death while he was asleep.
According to police, the parents, Lalith and Narsaiah, admitted to have committed the crime, claiming that their son’s addiction to ganja led to frequent family disputes. Unable to cope with the situation, the couple decided to kill their son, police said.
The incident came to light after the authorities were alerted by the neighbours. The police have taken the accused into custody and launched an investigation.
Charan’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further inquiries are under way. Police urged families facing similar challenges to seek professional help rather than resort to such drastic measures.
