To improve sanitation within the bus stand, Anantapur Collector Vinod Kumar V has instructed officials to impose fines on traders who did not have dustbins placed in front of their shops and were found littering within the (APSRTC) bus stand premises. As an immediate action, the Collector ordered a fine of ₹25,000 each on two shops and directed their closure for violating cleanliness norms.
The directive came after a surprise inspection conducted on Tuesday, where the Collector found waste scattered across several areas within the bus stand. Expressing dissatisfaction over the poor sanitation, the Collector instructed officials to carry out regular cleaning of the place and ensure proper waste disposal by placing dustbins across the premises.
Mr. Vinod Kumar asked officials to conduct inspections of the bus stand regularly and to impose and collect fines from traders who do not comply.
Additionally, he also ordered that the drains be cleaned regularly and clear name boards be installed on platforms so passengers can identify the bus destinations.
Present during the inspection were RTC regional manager Sumanth R. Adoni, Anantapur Municipal Corporation commissioner Balaswamy, and others.
