Delhi Assembly Election 2025 Key Constituencies List: Delhi is gearing up for a high-stakes three-way showdown in the upcoming Assembly elections, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), BJP, and Congress all vying for control.

AAP is determined to clinch a third consecutive term in the national capital, while both BJP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to reclaim political power. As the election date approaches, several key political figures are stepping into the spotlight, making this contest one of the most closely watched in recent years.

Key Constituencies and Candidates to Watch in the Upcoming Elections

New Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal continues his tradition of contesting from the New Delhi seat, maintaining a streak that spans the last three assembly elections. This time, he faces BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit. Kejriwal’s past victories have been marked by significant margins, including a 21,687-vote lead in 2020. He is banking on AAP’s welfare schemes, including the promise of a ₹2,100 monthly allowance for women, as a key election plank.

Malviya Nagar

AAP’s Somnath Bharti is set to contest from Malviya Nagar once again, having secured the last three elections with substantial leads. Bharti won the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections with over 50% of the vote share. This time, he faces BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Congress’ Jitendra Kumar Kochar in a closely watched battle.

Rohini

The Rohini seat will witness a fierce contest between AAP and BJP. In both the 2013 and 2015 elections, the victory margin between the two parties was under 5,000 votes. BJP’s two-time winner Vijender Gupta (2015, 2020) is contesting for a third term against AAP’s Pradeep Mittal. In 2020, Gupta defeated AAP’s Rajesh Nama ‘Bansiwala’ by over 12,000 votes.

Ballimaran

A traditional stronghold for Muslim candidates, Ballimaran falls under the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. AAP has once again nominated Imran Hussain, a prominent Muslim leader and incumbent minister. Congress has fielded veteran leader Haroon Yusuf, who has represented this constituency multiple times and served as a cabinet minister in the Sheila Dikshit government. Despite multiple attempts, the BJP has never secured a win here. This time, the party is fielding Kamal Bagri, who won the Delhi Municipal Corporation election from Ram Nagar in 2022, replacing its 2020 candidate, Lata Sodhi.

Shakur Basti

The BJP has fielded Karnail Singh, chief of its Delhi Mandir Prakoshth (temple cell), as its candidate for the Shakur Basti constituency. He will be up against senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain, making this a high-stakes contest.

Patparganj

A stronghold for AAP, Patparganj was represented by Manish Sisodia for three consecutive elections. However, this year, AAP has nominated teacher-turned-politician Awadh Ojha to contest against BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi and Congress’ Anil Chaudhary. Before AAP’s dominance, the Congress held the seat from 1998 to 2013. In 2020, Sisodia secured victory with 70,163 votes.

Kalkaji

Kalkaji is witnessing a three-way battle among AAP, Congress, and BJP. AAP has fielded Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Singh, who is up against Congress’ Alka Lamba and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri. The constituency has a total of 1,94,515 voters, including 1,06,893 male voters, 87,617 female voters, and 5 transgender voters. AAP secured victory here in the last two elections, with Atishi defeating BJP’s Dharambir Singh by 11,393 votes in 2020.

Jangpura

AAP secured victory in Jangpura in both the 2015 and 2020 elections with Praveen Kumar. This year, the party has replaced him with Manish Sisodia, who will be up against Congress’ Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Farhad Suri. In 2020, AAP won the seat by over 15,000 votes. Reports suggest Sisodia’s nomination is part of AAP’s broader strategy to counter anti-incumbency and consolidate its position across Delhi.

Okhla

AAP’s Amanatullah Khan is contesting from Okhla for the third consecutive time. The Congress has fielded Ariba Khan to challenge him. In both the 2015 and 2020 elections, Khan defeated BJP’s Braham Singh by a margin of over 60,000 votes each time.

These key constituencies will be crucial in shaping the political landscape of Delhi, with high-profile candidates and closely watched electoral battles.
