NEW DELHI: Delhi-NCR woke up to a damp morning on Tuesday as light rainfall offered a brief respite from pollution. However, air quality is still expected to remain in the “poor” category, according to the air quality early warning system.
The showers, influenced by a Western Disturbance, brought temporary relief, but experts warn that pollution levels may not see a significant drop.
On Monday, the city experienced dense fog, which briefly impacted visibility, but steady winds and clearer skies helped improve air quality.
This led the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to lift GRAP-III restrictions just five days after they were imposed.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain or drizzle in Delhi until noon on Tuesday, though a Met official noted that no significant rainfall is expected.
