Following various measures taken by the district administration and the Department of PU Education, Dharwad district has improved its performance in the II PU examination and has risen to 17th rank from 23rd in the State. This apart, it has secured seven ranks (by students) at the State-level in various streams.
Addressing presspersons after the announcement of the results in Dharwad on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu G.R.J. said that the district secured five ranks at the State-level in the Science stream and two in the Arts stream.
The Deputy Commissioner said that last year, the district recorded a passing percentage of 53 in the Arts stream and this year, it has increased it to 55.21.
Out of the 6,044 students who appeared for the examination, 3,337 have passed it.
In the Commerce stream, out of the total 6,849 students who appeared for the examination, 4,482 have passed it taking the passing percentage to 65.44.
In the Science stream, 10,595 students out of the total 12,570 students have passed registering a passing percentage of 84.29.
“In all, 25,463 students appeared for II PU examination during 2024-25 and out of them, 18,414 students have passed taking the passing percentage to 72.32,” she said.
On the occasion, she gave sweets to the some of the students who have secured ranks at the State-level and honoured them.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhuvanesh Patil, Deputy Director of PU Education Suresh K.P. and rank students Nagaveni Raichur, Shreya Joshi, Kaveri Kevathi, Ayush and faculty members of colleges that have secured ranks were present.
Science
Sumith Kishorkumar Rashinkar of Viyaniketan PU College, Bhairidevarakoppa, Hubballi, has secured the sixth rank at the State-level with 594 marks, while two students from the same college, Abhinav Ramappa Hirekumbi and Shrishail Bandiwad, and Kaveri Kevathi from Vidya P. Hanchinmani PU College, Dharwad, secured the eighth rank with 592 marks. Ayush from Vidya P. Hanchinmani PU College has secured the ninth rank with 591 marks.
Arts
Ineshka Nadugaddi of Sri Kadasiddeshwar Arts and HS Kotambri Science Institute, Hubballi, has secured the fourth rank with 594 marks and Nagaveni Raichur of Government PU College at Gopanakoppa in Hubballi has secured the fifth rank with 593 marks.
Commerce
In Commerce, Bhuvi C. Shah of KLE Commerce PU College, Hubballi, has emerged as the district topper with 592 marks followed by Shreya Joshi of JG Commerce and Science PU College, Hubballi, with 591 marks.
