Ahead of the Assembly election, Dilip Jaiswal has been re-elected Bihar State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The decision was taken on Tuesday (March 4, 2025) during the BJP State council meeting held at Bapu Sabhagar in which Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister and in-charge of the council and observer, made the formal announcement.

Mr. Jaiswal has recently stepped down as the Revenue and Land Reforms Department Minister following the party’s rule of ‘one man, one post’.

Mr. Khattar said that it has been the tradition of the party that the organisation would reconstituted every three years calling it a constitutional process.

All key leaders of the Bihar BJP including State in-charge Vinod Tawde, co-in-charge Deepak Prakash, both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai, Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad participated apart from thousands of party workers from State to divisional level.

Mr. Jaiswal had filed his nomination papers on Monday in front of the party’s election in-charge Rajesh Verma and his name was proposed by both deputy Chief Ministers. Mr. Khattar expressed confidence that Mr. Jaiswal would perform the work of the organisation smoothly keeping the Assembly election in mind.

Addressing the party workers, Mr. Khattar said that he had been working for the organisation for 48 years. He added that the Ganga and Bihar had a great influence in his life. He asserted that he was inspired by the speech of Jaiprakash Narayan during the emergency in 1975 and decided to serve the nation.

‘Congress focused on enjoyment’

Mr. Khattar lashed out at Congress alleging that when they ruled the country, their only goal was enjoyment.

“When Jan Sangh was established, power was not the goal and due to the hard work of the workers, BJP reached power in 1996. Congress party had made power an object of enjoyment and BJP changed it. BJP made power a service and the goal of Jan Sangh was to serve the country and society,” he said.

Stressing on the upcoming Bihar election, Mr. Khattar appealed to the workers to start preparing for the elections from now.

“NDA [National Democratic Alliance] government will be formed again under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,” Mr. Khattar said.

Mr. Jaiswal on other hand expressed gratitude to all the people including the council in-charge and observer Mr. Khattar. He assured the party workers and leaders that by connecting the booth level organisation with the mainstream, a huge organisation will be formed.

“BJP is determined to build a strong nation as our party is based on principles and ideals, it is not the party of any particular family, caste or class. BJP workers are the second army of the country, if an army protects the country on the border, then BJP workers keep the ideology and culture of the country alive within the country, Mr. Jaiswal said.
