NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister who often has held the opposition of having a soft corner for Jinnah, picked on a similar theme on Wednesday to flay the pack that is coming all-out at the government on a slew of issues. The chief minister accused the opposition of fearmongering and disturbing the “social fabric” by dividing the nation on grounds of caste, region and language.
“Jinnah committed the grave sin of dividing the nation, which led to his suffocating demise. Congress and SP are committing a similar sin by dividing society,” the chief minister said at said at a district-level job fair in Aligarh.
“The country was barely moving forward after Independence. Its social fabric was destroyed. Benefits of development schemes were provided after discriminating on the basis of caste, regions and language,” the chief minister added.
The UP CM also went to question the SP chief Akilesh Yadav‘s “silence” on rape cases in Ayodhya, Kannauj and Kolkata, saying the party has “justified” such acts in the past, referring to a remark by party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
“Those who jeopardize the safety of daughters and businessmen face direct a path to ‘Yamlok’,” he added.
‘Good governance cannot be achieved without security’
In a veiled reference to the “Bulldozer action” that most opposition parties have taken a strong exception to, the chief minister justified the law and order action in the state, saying “anyone takes the path of anarchy, it will lead them to ‘Yamraj'”.
Reiterating BJP‘s call of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Viswas’ the chief minister added, “We will neither discriminate nor allow anyone to spread anarchy or mismanagement.”
“Those who achieved nothing during their tenure and were known only for their ‘karname’ (misdeeds), are unsettled by the rule of law in the state.” The CM said employment naturally follows from development and security is its cornerstone. “Good governance cannot be achieved without security”.
The UP CM also did not spare from singling out the Congress on failing to reward great Indian heroes like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh. Perhaps, hailing the BJP to have done it instead.
“The BJP is dedicated to honouring these great figures, as evidenced by the university established in Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh’s name,” he said.
The CM said the Congress and the Samajwadi Party are focussed only on their own interests, while the double-engine BJP government does not tolerate discrimination, anarchy, disorder or hooliganism.
“Today, UP is recognised as one of the leading states in the country. Therefore, we must ensure that this progress continues as the Samajwadi Party, if given a chance, would bring about riots, looting, and anarchy,” he said.
At the event, chief minister Adityanath handed out job appointment letters to several young individuals and inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for 305 projects with a total value of Rs 705 crore. During this district-level ‘Rozgar Mela’, more than 63 companies and firms provided appointment letters to over 5,000 youth for various roles.
