CHENNAI:
Asked about AIADMK skipping the inauguration of the Ram temple, Udhayanidhi said it was their personal choice and added, “They have already sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya.”
Asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami skipping the consecration due to “a pain in his leg”, Udhayanidhi said as EPS had the habit of crawling, he might have acquired pain in his legs.
Earlier, Udhayanidhi flagged off a torch relay for DMK youth wing conference to be held in Salem on Sunday. The torch would reach Salem after traveling 310km via Kancheepuram, Villupuram and Kallakurichi.
The youth wing conference was initially planned on Dec 17, last year, but due to Cyclone Michaung the conference was postponed to Dec 24. The conference had to be postponed once again due to the deluge in the southern districts.
Earlier, DMK students wing, youth wing and the medical wing together launched an anti-NEET campaign with the target of obtaining 50 lakh signatures in 50 days. Udhayanidhi said more than 85 lakh signatures were obtained and they would be handed over to chief minister M K Stalin at the conference.
