In the video, Rahul Gandhi is seen attempting to feed a biscuit to a puppy and then giving the same biscuit, rejected by the dog, to a party supporter. However, the video shared by the official Bharat Jodo Yatra handle did not include the biscuit clip.
“Just a few days ago, Congress President Kharge ji compared the party’s booth agents to dogs and here Rahul Gandhi is feeding biscuits to a dog during his visit and when the dog did not eat, he gave the same biscuits to his worker,” head of BJP IT cell Amit Malviya said.
“If a party whose president and crown prince treats its party workers like dogs, then it is natural for such a party to disappear,” he said.
In another post, BJP leader Pallavi CT alleged that Rahul Gandhi disrespected Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a former Congress leader, by offering him biscuits from the same plate as the dog.
Responding to Pallavi CT Sarma said that he refused to eat and resigned from the party.
“Pallavi ji, not only Rahul Gandhi but the entire family could not make me eat that biscuit. I am a proud Assamese and Indian. I refused to eat and resigned from the Congress.” Sarma said in a post on X.
Sarma’s tweet was a reference to his comments last year when he said that Gandhi offered biscuits to dogs in the presence of Assam leaders. Reacting to Gandhi’s criticism of Amit Shah for making a Manipuri delegation remove shoes inside the home minister’s house, Sarma had said, “Mr. Rahul Gandhi, those who prefer to feed biscuits to dogs in the presence of leaders from Assam and then offer them the same biscuits should be the last people to talk about political decency. High command mindset is INC’s be all and end all. The people of India know it well.”
In another post by Gandhi, who shared his pet dog Pidi’s video, Sarma had reacted, “Sir,who knows him better than me. Still remember you busy feeding biscuits to him while we wanted to discuss urgent Assam’s issues.”
Last week, Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that the “body double” allegedly used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Assam has been “identified” and details will be revealed later.
“We have identified the body double, which was used by Rahul Gandhi during the padyatra. We have now confirmed that during most of the roadshows, Rahul was not cheering the crowd. His body double was cheering the crowd,” the CM claimed.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ journeyed through Assam from January 18 to January 25, during which Gandhi had locked horns with Sarma on several occasions.
