NEW DELHI: Amid the water crisis in Delhi, newly elected MP from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari, criticized Delhi minister Atishi for blaming other states for the issue.
Tiwari questioned Atishi that if tanker people are getting water, why not the government is able to get it?
Speaking with ANI, Manoj Tiwari said, “Atishi has the Water Department, she cannot cry that there is no water in Delhi because the tanker mafia is taking out water from Delhi and giving it to the people, they are not filling the tanker with water from Haryana.”
He questioned why the government is unable to provide water if tanker vendors are able to get it.Tiwari highlighted the need for the government to take responsibility for ensuring water supply in the capital, mentioning the leakage in pipes and mixing of gutter water as contributing factors to the crisis.
“The lieutenant governor and Supreme Court are urging the government to provide water to the people. It should not be seen as an insult when we highlight the need for basic amenities,” Tiwari said.
He criticized the AAP government for allegedly neglecting its duty to provide water to the citizens of Delhi, emphasizing the importance of addressing the water scarcity issue promptly.
The Supreme Court also intervened in the matter, questioning the Delhi government about the presence of tanker mafias and wastage of water in the capital. The court directed the government to explain the steps taken to prevent water loss and tackle the recurring problem of water scarcity during summers.
The court took a strong stance against the tanker mafias and urged the government to take decisive action to address the crisis.
In response to the Supreme Court’s directives, Manoj Tiwari emphasized the need for the Delhi government to prioritize the efficient distribution of water to the residents of the city. He further criticized Atishi for allegedly failing to address the water shortage issue effectively despite having the responsibility of the Water Department.
Tiwari highlighted the urgency of repairing the faulty pipes and preventing water wastage to ensure a steady supply of water to the people.
“The AAP government has been in power for the past nine years, yet the water crisis in Delhi persists. It is time for them to take concrete actions to resolve the issue rather than shifting blame onto others,” Tiwari said.
He urged Atishi and the AAP government to acknowledge the severity of the water crisis and work towards finding sustainable solutions to provide adequate water supply to the citizens of Delhi.
The water shortage in Delhi has significantly impacted the daily lives of residents, with several areas experiencing little to no water supply. The combination of low water levels in the Yamuna River and technical issues at water treatment plants has exacerbated the crisis, forcing people to rely on tankers and borewells for their water needs. The ongoing water scarcity has underscored the urgent need for the government to address the underlying issues and ensure a sustainable water supply for the capital.
As the residents of Delhi continue to grapple with the effects of the water shortage, it is crucial for the government to take proactive measures to mitigate the crisis. By addressing the root causes of the water scarcity, repairing faulty infrastructure and cracking down on illegal water vendors, the authorities can alleviate the suffering of the people and ensure a reliable water supply for all citizens.
Manoj Tiwari’s call for accountability and action serves as a reminder of the government’s duty to prioritize the well-being of its citizens and address pressing issues like the water crisis in Delhi.
