LUCKNOW: In a daring incident, a car driver attempted to run over traffic constable Yogesh while on duty near the Gosaiganj town intersection police post on Tuesday night. The horrifying ordeal saw the constable clinging to the car’s bonnet for a terrifying kilometer-long ride before finding respite at a closed railway gate.
Constable Yogesh was diligently managing traffic when a group of children began crossing the road.He promptly instructed oncoming vehicles to stop, ensuring their safety. However, driver Anil Singh, in a reckless display of disregard, suddenly revved his engine and drove towards Yogesh, said the police.
“With no time to react, I instinctively jumped onto the bonnet to avoid being crushed,” Yogesh recounted, still shaken by the experience. “I screamed for help as the driver sped up, dragging me along for what felt like an eternity.”
Fortunately, the car’s reckless journey screeched to a halt at a closed railway gate, offering Yogesh the opportunity to dislodge himself and scramble to safety.
Following the incident, a swift response from local police resulted in the identification and arrest of Anil Singh.
“A case has been registered against Anil and he has been arrested,” said the SHO, Gosaiganj, Mahendra Shukla.
