The Shah Rukh Khan-led Dunki directed by Rajkumar Hirani has seen a dip in business after the extended Christmas Holiday period. After collecting Rs. 125 crores through its 5-day extended holiday weekend, Dunki has collected in the range of Rs. 9.25 crores to Rs. 10.25 crores on its 6th day taking the total collections to Rs. 135 crores.
The film has seen a 55 percent dip in numbers over Monday and this is just about an average hold, which still doesn’t confirm the hit status for this Rajkumar Hirani-directed social dramedy. The film will be looking at an opening week of Rs. 143 crores, as there will be another dip of 7 to 10 percent on Wednesday.
The film is doing average business in the multiplexes, however, the single screens are much below the mark. The film is facing opposition from Salaar in the mass belts and that has dented the prospects by 10 to 12 percent through the last 5 days, however, there are enough screens and shows for the film to make up for the loss of audience due to clash.
A Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani film during the Christmas period should have done better, and now, it’s all about the long run which will determine its status. The business in second weekend will tell us if Dunki has enough legs to hit the Rs. 200 crore mark, and we will keep an eye on the trend of this film from hereon.
