NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena MP and Maharashtra caretaker CM Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant on Wednesday said he was proud of his father for putting “alliance dharma” over personal ambitions and setting an example for collective governance. These remarks followed Eknath Shinde‘s announcement that he would not be an obstacle to government formation and would accept any decision taken by PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah as “final” on the next chief minister.
Shrikant took to X and hailed his father’s grassroots connection with the people of Maharashtra through serving all segments of society. “I am proud of my father and chief leader of the Shiv Sena. He kept faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and set an example of the alliance dharma, keeping his personal ambition aside,” Shrikant Shinde said.
Shrikant said his father, known as the “Common Man,” dedicated himself to public service and even opened Varsha, the chief minister’s official residence, to the people. His legacy, the MP said, will inspire future generations, adding that the blessings of the underprivileged are Shinde’s true wealth.
On Wednesday, the outgoing chief minister confirmed that he had spoken with Prime Minister Modi and Union minister Amit Shah, assuring them of his support and no obstacles from his side in forming a new government in the state.
With Shinde affirming that the Shiv Sena would cooperate in forming the new government, BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has emerged as a leading candidate for the top post. According to sources cited by news agency PTI, Maharashtra NDA leaders are meeting senior BJP officials today to confirm the leadership structure.
The new government is most likely to follow a formula with one chief minister and two deputy chief ministers representing the three major Mahayuti allies.
