NEW DELHI: An encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kulgam.
According to the J&K Police, Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation at Kadder in the Behibagh area of the district on Wednesday night following information about the presence of suspected terrorists there.
“Encounter started in Kadder area of Kulgam district. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” J&K Police said on X.
The officials further said that the search operation turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated.
Security forces have increased operations against the terrorists in the recent past following several attacks carried out by the terrorists.
Earlier on November 23, Baramulla Police, in a joint operation with security forces, busted a terror hideout in the Kunzer area of Baramulla district. According to the police, based on credible leads generated during the investigation, a joint operation was conducted.
During the search operation, the police recovered arms and ammunition, and it also destroyed the hideout, thwarted any possible untoward incident, and scuttled the nefarious plans of terrorist outfits to derail peace and harmony in the Kashmir Valley.
