NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha on Sunday (April 13) promised the farmers that every grain of paddy would be procured for rabi 2024-25 season and that there is no need for worry.
He visited the Polavaram Canal Bund area and inspected the paddy fields, looked at the moisture content in the grains and inspected the process of loading the stocks onto lorries and transportation to the mills.
The Collector said additional lorries have been arranged to move the entire stocks to the mills by Monday evening. Mr. Lakshmisha held a teleconference with the officials of the civil supplies, revenue, agriculture and other departments and issued instructions to ensure that farmers do not face any trouble.
While it is estimated the district has a total paddy production capacity of 1,66,470 metric tonnes, so far, 38,667 metric tonnes of grains have been harvested. Out of this, the Collector said 9,223 tonnes, worth ₹18.81 crore, have already been procured from 601 farmers and that money is being deposited into the accounts of the farmers within 24 hours.
The Collector said on an average, 900-1,100 metric tonnes of paddy grains are being procured a day through 107 Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) across the district.
The Collector said a special control room is available at the district level and a farmer can dial 77020 03571 for help regarding paddy procurement.
