In an exclusive conversation on Bollywood Hungama’s Lights, Camera, Podcast, Bobby Deol opened up about his family’s legacy and his wife’s unwavering support. Speaking with Rohit Khilnani, the actor discussed his father Dharmendra, and the women of his family.

When asked which family member has lived life to the fullest, Bobby promptly named his father. “I think my dad. He has lived life the way he wanted to. The song ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra really suits him, it’s like him, you know.”
The actor also reflected on the devotion and admiration people still have for Dharmendra, noting how fans gather outside their house on the Deols’ birthdays. “It’s just the way my dad has been from the very beginning,” he said. “When he entered the industry, he never met people like a star meeting fans—he met them as a normal human being. He has always been genuine, and that’s why people still love and respect him so much.”
Bobby also spoke about how his father has remained unchanged despite his massive stardom and how his humility has influenced his own life. “I have seen my dad surrounded by people who tried to put him in a bubble, making him feel special. But he never let it get to his head. That’s something I’ve learned from him, to stay grounded and true to yourself”, Bobby added.
Speaking about the women in his family, the actor credited his success to his mother, grandmother and his wife. He revealed that his wife is his biggest strength, stating, “She believed in me. She’s always told me, ‘You are special’”. He added, “She has been my biggest support, standing by me through all my ups and downs, just like my mom did for my dad. She has always believed in me”.
While discussing his sons and passing the torch to the next generation, Bobby revealed that he is ensuring they learn important life lessons and work ethics. “They are working as assistants to directors and photographers to understand the real world, both the good and the bad. If you don’t develop that hunger and drive from the beginning, you won’t have the motivation to push forward”, he said.
