A Look Back at Past Clashes
Reflecting on her illustrious career, Madhuri revisited an era when such clashes didn’t generate the same buzz as they do today. She recalled the release of her 1990 blockbuster Dil, which went head-to-head with Sunny Deol’s action-packed Ghayal. Comparing the two films, Madhuri highlighted the stark difference in genres: “I remember Dil was released with Sunny Deol’s Ghayal. One was a romantic film, and the other was action. People were curious to know which film would work in that era as well.”
Despite the curiosity surrounding these clashes, Madhuri explained the bigger picture, stating that the ultimate goal is for all films to succeed. “All films have to run. All films should do well whichever films release. Because this industry is not just about one film. This industry is bigger,” she remarked.
The Evolution of Indian Cinema
Madhuri also addressed the changing dynamics of the Indian film industry, particularly with the influence of South Indian cinema. She pointed out that the line between regional and Bollywood films has blurred, creating a unified industry.
“Now with the South Indian influence, everything has become one. So it is one big industry. And I wish every Friday becomes a big Friday where the films work and films do well, because that’s how our industry will grow, and we’ll be able to do better, bigger films,” she explained.
