Renowned film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently shared his insights into the record-breaking success of Pushpa 2: The Rule during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Starring Allu Arjun in the titular role, the film has shattered box office records nationwide, leaving industry experts and audiences in awe.

Discussing sequels, Taran noted, “Part 2 of any film is very dangerous because it carries the baggage of humongous expectations. You have a huge responsibility on your shoulders to deliver. Pushpa: The Rise was loved immensely. While Allu Arjun was already popular in the Hindi belt, the first part made him a sensation. People loved him as Pushparaj. For the second part, the expectations were massive, and the film has shattered all records, from east to west and north to south. It’s doing phenomenal business.”
He highlighted the unprecedented financial milestones achieved by the film, stating, “It’s both a good and bad thing. The good part is that today, a film can do Rs 80 crores or even Rs 100 crores in a single day, which shows remarkable growth in business. The negative side is that Pushpa 2’s success has given nightmares to many actors, directors, and producers. They now feel they must reach that level, which is not easy.”
“Bombay Actors Would Have Rejected Pushpa’s Script”
Taran Adarsh praised Allu Arjun’s commitment to his role and called him one of the bravest actors in the industry. He asserted, “If this script had been narrated to actors in Mumbai, most would have rejected it outright. Even if someone agreed, they would’ve demanded changes during filming or at the editing table, diluting the director’s vision. That’s where Allu Arjun stands apart. He not only embraced the character but completely surrendered to the director’s ideas. He is courageous and has gone deep into the character.”
Adarsh also commended Arjun’s transformation for the role, “Allu Arjun is a good-looking man, but in this film, you don’t see him; you see Pushparaj. That’s the level of dedication he brings to his craft.”

Revealing his post-screening conversation with Allu Arjun, Taran said, “After watching Pushpa 2, I told Allu Arjun, ‘Your performance is like a textbook. Every actor should watch this film to understand the importance of immersing oneself in a character.’”

Taran compared the film’s success to Shah Rukh Khan’s recent blockbusters but acknowledged its unique impact. He said, “Pushpa 2’s numbers are extraordinary and historic. While Shah Rukh Khan has pulled such crowds, Allu Arjun has proven himself a pan-India superstar. He is not just a fantastic actor but also a brave one.”
