In a candid interview with Bollywood Hungama, actress Saie Tamhankar discussed her experiences with criticism, particularly surrounding her bold choices in film roles. The conversation addressed the contrasting reactions Saie received for her performances in the Marathi film No Entry Pudhe Dhoka Aahey and the Hindi film Hunterrr.
EXCLUSIVE: Saie Tamhankar says she “faced more criticism for Hunterrr than No Entry Pudhe Dhoka Aahey”
While some might expect criticism for a bikini-clad role in a Marathi film, the Mimi actress revealed she faced more resistance for Hunterrr. “I actually received more criticism for Hunterrr than No Entry Pudhe Dhoka Aahey,” Saie said. “Surprisingly, when No Entry was released, the media and audience were very welcoming. It was a pleasant surprise.”
She acknowledged the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. Hunterrr, which might have faced initial criticism upon release, is now considered a cult classic. Further, she offers a balanced perspective on criticism. “I also feel criticism keeps you in check,” she says. “It can sometimes fuel you and other times make you realise you must be doing something right. There’s always a flip side, and the key is to focus on the positive aspects.”
Speaking of the professional front, the 37-year-old actress was last seen in Bhakshak, a Hindi-language film headlined by Bhumi Pednekar. She has a bunch of projects in her kitty including Ground Zero and Agni with Emraan Hashmi and Pratik Gandhi, respectively. She also has a Netflix series, Dabba Cartel, in the pipeline.
