LONDON: The family of a Malayali man who was found dead on a railway track in Scotland after being hit by a train are desperately seeking answers.
Abel Tharayil (24), who hails from Thrissur, was living in Stirling when his body was found near a level crossing near Stirling on March 12 at 9.30pm.
British Transport Police have closed their investigation, ruling out foul play, saying “the incident is not being treated as suspicious”.

Tharayil, whose father is deceased, leaves behind a mother, Padmini, and brother, Abhiram. He had arrived in the UK on a student visa in Jan 2023 to read a masters in sport management at Stirling university. He graduated in Jan 2024 and recently landed a full-time job at Concentrix, whilst doing sports coaching outside work.
He has a BBA from St Aloysius College, Thrissur.
His family has approached CM Pinarayi Vijayan; Union minister Suresh Gopi; and the DGP demanding an investigation into his death.
