It’s raining action dramas at the Indian box office. After the smashing success of ‘Pushpa 2,’ the audience was treated with Varun Dhawan’s ‘Baby John’ and now Sonu Sood’s much anticipated high-octane action thriller ‘Fateh’ has made it to the big screen. However, besides Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2,’ no other action drama could give an outstanding performance at the box office. Despite high expectations and a compelling narrative, the film had a slow start with only Rs 2.4 crores, and on its second day, according to Sacnilk’s early estimates, the movie only minted Rs. 2.1 crores.
If we look at the brighter sides, according to the trade experts the movie has outperformed the predicted day one collection. Many experts argued that ‘Fateh’ will mint between the Rs 70 lakh and Rs 1 crore range, and thus, a business of Rs 2.4 crore appears big. However, a dip of more than 12 percent right on the second day, highlights the slow business.
With ‘Fateh’ Sonu Sood has returned as a lead actor, and his fans were waiting for this big move by the star. Praised widely for his philanthropic work, especially during the pandemic, the actor donned different hats of the director and producer for the film.
Though Sonu Sood in recent days was seen as heavily invested in the promotion of the movie, it didn’t seem to have helped in the business. Perhaps, it is the box office clash with Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’ that affected the numbers. The political thriller by the ‘RRR’ star debuted with an impressive all-India estimate of Rs 51 crore. And on the other hand, there’s Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2,’ which even after completing a month of theatrical release is keeping the cash registers ringing at the box office. Its 6th-weekend collection has already made more than Rs. 3 crore.
