A 17-year-old boy was fatally struck on the head with a hammer by another inmate at the Government Children’s Home at Ramavarmapuram, near Thrissur, Kerala, on Thursday (January 16, 2025).
The victim, Ankith from Irinjalakuda, was struck on the head with the hammer by a 16-year-old boy following an altercation between them, according to police sources. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ankith could not be saved.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Reports indicate that the altercation between the children began on Wednesday and continued into Thursday morning.
The facility houses 25 children. The Viyyur police have registered a case.
