K.V. Joseph, 67, former district police chief of Idukki district, collapsed and died while on morning walk on Thursday. The incident occurred in front of St. Marys High School, Arakkulam, near Moolamattom, in Idukki. Local people rushed him to a private hospital at Moolamattom, but his life could not be saved.
Mr. Joseph joined the police department as a principal sub-inspector. In his 36-year tenure in the department, he served as sub-inspector, circle inspector, Dy.SP, and district police chief. He bagged the Chief Minister’s Police Medal in 1993 and the President’s Gold Medal in 2009. He retired as the district police chief of Idukki.
The funeral will be held at St. Marys Puthenpalli, Arakkulam, at 11 a.m. on Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Rosamma, and children Blesson K. Joseph, Susan Rose, Roshan Rose, and Febin K. Joseph.
