NEW DELHI: Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, established in 1957, is one of the five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand. It covers five districts: Chamoli, Nainital (part), Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, and Tehri Garhwal (part). People of this constituency will cast their ballots on April 19.
The constituency includes 14 Assembly segments and is a general seat contested by prominent parties like BJP and INC.In the upcoming 2024 elections, notable candidates include Bhim Singh Bisht from the Bahujan Samaj Party, Anil Baluni from the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Ganesh Godiyal from the Indian National Congress.
The 2019 election in Garhwal saw a 54.52% voter turnout, with BJP’s Tirath Singh Rawat emerging victorious with a significant margin.
In Uttarakhand, all five Lok Sabha constituencies, including Garhwal, will go to polls on April 19 as announced by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. The 2024 general elections will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with results declared on June 4.
