The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ranga Reddy Unit, apprehended a bill collector of Rajendra Nagar Circle, GHMC, for accepting bribe. C. Madhu was caught on Monday at around 2 p.m. after he demanded ₹1 lakh as a bribe and accepted ₹45,000 through an intermediary, V. Ramesh.

The bribe was solicited from a complainant in exchange for an official favour – to avoid hiking the property tax of the complainant’s factory, according to an ACB release.

“The ACB recovered the ₹45,000 bribe from V. Ramesh, who tested positive in a chemical test, indicating direct involvement in the transaction. Both C. Madhu and V. Ramesh were arrested and will be presented before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, in Nampally. The case remains under investigation,” the ACB informed in a press release.

The ACB has urged the public to report any incidents of bribery by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB), or X (formerly Twitter) at @TelanganaACB.

The bureau assured that the identity of complainants will remain confidential.
