Good News for Delhi women! ’Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ to give ₹2,500 approved; govt sanctions ₹5,100 cr for one year

In a good news for the women of Delhi, a scheme to provide an honorarium of 2,500 to the city’s women has been approved.

“Mahila Samridhi Yojana to give 2500 to women in Delhi has been approved today,” reported ANI quoting BJP national president JP Nadda.

Addressing media, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta that on the women’s day, the cabinet has approved the scheme.

“For the promise that we made during the Delhi elections to provide 2,500 to the women, we have made a provision of 5,100 crores in the Delhi budget for the implementation of the scheme,” said Rekha Gupta.

The Chief Minister added that they have formed the committee, which will be led by her and the registration for the scheme will begin soon.

“A portal will be launched soon,” said the CM

Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said that now they will start registration and this scheme will be implemented.

The development came hours after AAP leader Atishi questioned why the Delhi government did not pass a scheme at its first cabinet meeting.

Earlier in the day, Atishi, a former Delhi chief minister, accused the newly formed BJP government of “failing to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of providing financial assistance to women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana.

Previous Cabinet Decisions

Last month, at its maiden Cabinet meeting  the newly-formed Delhi government approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the capital, discussed Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, and also decided to table 14 pending CAG reports in the first session of the eighth Assembly.
