Voice input for Gmail’s Help Me Write
Help Me Write AI assistant on the Gmail app now has a new voice prompting option. This option will help users to send emails from their Gmail app just using their voice.
Google is also adding a new instant polish feature to Gemini in Gmail. This feature will help users transform notes into a more complete email draft in a single click without any prompt.
These new experiences will be available to Gemini Enterprise and Gemini Business customers, as well as Google One AI Premium subscribers.
New video creation tool
The newest addition to the Workspace collaborative suit is an AI-powered video creation app called Vids. This tool can be used to generate a storyboard that users can edit. After choosing a style, it can also piece together the user’s first draft with suggested scenes from stock videos, images and background music.
Vids will also allow users to add voice-over. Users can either choose one of the pre-set voiceovers available in the tool or use their own. It will assist users to write, produce and edit their videos all inside one tool.
In a blog post, Google claims that Vids includes “a simple, easy-to-use interface and the ability to collaborate and share projects securely from your browser.”
Vids will be available on Workspace Labs starting in June.
AI-improvement for Google Meet auto-translation
Workspace customers can already turn on translated captions during video calls and select their preferred language. This feature helps Google Meet users around the world to easily communicate.
Starting in June, the Translate for Me feature in Meet will be able to automatically detect and translate captions into the user’s preferred language.
With Translate for me, Google is adding translated caption support for 52 new languages. This will bring the total number of supported languages to 69.
Apart from this, more Meet and Chat features, like Take Notes for Me, will be available in a new AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for $10 per user per month. Users will be allowed to add AI Meetings and Messaging to select Workspace plans.
Sheets and Docs’ new features
Google Sheets is getting a new tables feature that formats and organises data in a new design. Select a template from the new set of building blocks. It features multiple templates ranging from project management to event planning and inventory management which will save users time as they won’ have to build a spreadsheet from scratch ever again. This feature will be available for all Workspace plans in the coming weeks.
The company is also rolling out a new tab experience in Docs. This will also help users to organise related information in a single document.
Google is even making it easier to personalise documents with full-bleed cover images that will extend from one edge of the browser to the other. These features will be available to all Docs users in the coming weeks.
AI security add-on
This new AI security add-on lets IT teams automatically identify, classify and protect sensitive files in Google Drive across the company.
It uses privacy-preserving AI models that can be trained using data unique to different organisations. This enables continuous evaluation, classification and protection of existing and new files in Drive.
AI Security is now available for select Workspace plans for $10 per user, per month.
