Govt on Friday invited global bids for offshore wind energy projects of 4 GW total capacity, in four blocks of 1 GW each, off the coast of Tamil Nadu. The first auction of offshore projects comes a day after the interim Budget announced viability gap funding for 1 GW projects. These are out of the ambit of the budget announcement as developers will sell power directly to bulk consumers in high-tariff band.
