Social worker Mandala Parashuramulu has appealed to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to recommend the appointment of Chief Information Commissioner and members to the Telangana State Information Commission.
In a letter addressed to the Governor on Sunday, Mr. Parashuramulu expressed concern over the mounting backlog of cases, attributing the delay in their disposal to the inadequate number of serving Information Commissioners. He stated that the delay not only violates the intent of the Right To Information (RTI) Act, 2005, but also erodes public confidence in mechanisms aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Several other RTI activists also lament not filling posts that remained vacant for the last two years. “The government invited applications during the previous BRS regime and reportedly received over 200 applications. However, no decision has been made to fill the vacant positions,” said RTI activist Potlapally Veerabhadra Rao.
