Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced that Grok– an AI chatbot by xAI has become the number one app on Android. The tech billionaire took to microblogging platform X where he also shared screenshot of a Google Play Store listing of Grok app at #1 in the “Top Free” category, surpassing TikTok and ChatGPT, both rated lower at 4.1 and 4.8 stars respectively. “Cool, @Grok is #1 on Android!,” Musk wrote in the post.
Grok, first launched in 2023 by Elon Musk, is a generative AI chatbot. It was recently updated with Grok-3, which xAI claims outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-4o on certain benchmarks. While the Grok app for Android debuted in February 2025.
Readers should note that the screenshot, shared by Musk, appears to show the app’s Play Store listing in the US. Times of India verified this by checking the US Google Play Store listing, where the app is ranked number one.
