See-Saw 「去り際のロマンティクス」MV（Short Ver.)
Movie attendees can look forward to receiving one of two exclusive short stories crafted by scriptwriter Liu Goto. The narratives, titled “Futari no Tōuhikō” (Escape for Two) and “Gekkō no Walküre” (Valkyrie in the Moonlight), delve into intimate moments between Athrun and Cagalli, as well as the school days of Agnes, Shin, and Lunamaria at the military academy, respectively.
Adding to the excitement, viewers will also be gifted one of two promotional cards designed for use in the Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base game. The randomly distributed cards feature striking designs: Rising Freedom Gundam and Immortal Justice Gundam.
Scheduled to premiere in Japan on January 26, 2024, the film’s narrative unfolds within the cosmic era of C.E. 75. The cast, a mix of returning and new members, includes notable names like Sōichiro Hoshi, Rie Tanaka, Akira Ishida, Nanako Mori, Kenichi Suzumura, Maaya Sakamoto, Fumiko Orikasa, Kotono Mitsuishi, Takehito Koyasu, Tomokazu Seki, and many others.
Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, known for his work on Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, the film promises a sequel to the second Gundam Seed television anime, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. Notably, the script is a collaborative effort by Fukuda, his late wife Chiaki Morosawa, and Liu Goto. Character designs are handled by Hisashi Hirai.
The film’s theme song, “Freedom,” is performed by Takanori Nishikawa (T.M. Revolution), alongside producer t.komuro (Tetsuya Komuro). Meanwhile, the ending song, “Sarigiwa no Romantics,” marks the return of See-Saw to the franchise after two decades.
This film project is a significant component of the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Project ignited initiative, launched in 2021 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime. The initiative encompasses various elements, including a new game and the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Eclipse side-story manga.
Despite the challenges faced after the passing of Chiaki Morosawa in 2016, the project is a testament to her legacy, as she had already completed the plot for the Gundam Seed film before her untimely demise in 2008. The film is poised to be a remarkable continuation of the beloved Gundam Seed series, eagerly awaited by fans and newcomers alike.
