HISAR: In a suspected honour killing, a married couple was shot dead in Hansi town of Haryana on Monday morning.
The assailants fired seven rounds, leaving the couple, who had a love marriage two months ago, dead in Hansi’s Hukum Chand Jain Park. The victims have been identified as Tejbir, 27, of Badala village, and Meena, 24, of Sultanpur village. Meena’s paternal aunt is married to Tejbir’s maternal uncle.Tejbir and Meena married against the wishes of Meena’s family in Ghaziabad on April 22. Cops said a case has been registered against 11 people at Hansi police station as per complaint of Tejbir’s father Mehtab Singh. Tejbir’s maternal uncle Mahender’s son Virender and his maternal aunt Guddi Devi are among the 11 accused.
Mehtab told cops that Mahender and his family were against marriage. Tejbir and Meena were living in Delhi and had come to stay in Badala village for 10-15 days. “Jai Singh had threatened Tejbir to kill them,” he said. Mehtab said they left for Delhi at 8.15am. At 10.15am, he learnt they have been shot.
