JAIPUR: The health department has served notices to 73 hospitals for failing to maintain cleanliness in toilets, their premises and sought reply within three days.
The condition has not improved despite repeated inspections (four inspections of each premise).
According to the department’s Mar 17 report on 9,000 inspections conducted in government hospitals in past three months, the condition of at least nine percent of the toilets inspected was found unsatisfactory in fourth inspection, while in the first inspection, the authorities found 45% cleanliness of toilets unsatisfactory.The department has now issued notices to those hospitals which have not improved from first inspection to fourth inspection.
Additional chief secretary (health) Shubhra Singh said even after four visits under the inspection campaign, the condition of toilets and cleanliness in 73 hospitals was found to be unsatisfactory.
The inspections were conducted by divisional commissioners, district collectors, additional district magistrates, sub-divisional officers, tehsildars and health department’s officers.
Based on the 9,000 inspections report done by the department, the TOI had highlighted on Mar 20, in news report, ‘Birth pangs: No clean tables in 41% labour rooms in state, the improper cleanliness in labour rooms, wards and hospitals’ premises.
The department has taken action for improving the facilities in the hospitals by seeking reply from the hospitals within three days.
Health department’s director (public health) Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur said after the inspection, there has been a lot of improvement in human resources, condition of buildings and premises of medical institutions, cleanliness, medicine and treatment.
