NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday on the sidelines of the G7 summit in the picturesque southern resort town of Taormina, Italy. A video capturing the moment the two leaders hugged and shook hands warmly has gone viral.
The video of their interaction at the G7 summit underscores the personal bond between the two leaders, reflecting the deep and enduring ties between their countries.
This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s first foreign trip since beginning his third term in office earlier this month. The leaders met to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on global issues.

The two leaders had last met in January when President Macron visited India to attend the 75th Republic Day celebrations.
During their previous meeting, PM Modi and Macron reaffirmed their shared vision for bilateral cooperation and international partnership, encapsulated in the Horizon 2047 roadmap. This ambitious document outlines a broad-ranging agenda for the India-France relationship, setting a course for significant collaboration by 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence.
