Hunter Renfrow is working toward an NFL return. Once considered one of the league’s best slot receivers, the 29-year-old sat out the entire 2024 season but is now looking for a fresh opportunity. According to NFL Media, Renfrow has visited with the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers as he hopes to make his comeback.
Renfrow became a household name at Clemson, where he won two College Football Playoff National Championships. His most famous moment came in 2017 when he caught the game-winning touchdown from Deshaun Watson to defeat Alabama. That play cemented his legacy, and he later carried that momentum into the NFL, becoming a reliable target in the Raiders’ passing attack.

Could a Raiders reunion be in the works for Hunter Renfrow?

Hunter Renfrow was drafted by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and wasted no time making an impact. He recorded two 100-yard games as a rookie and continued to develop into a key piece of the offense. In 2021, Renfrow was at the top of his game. He caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl nod and a two-year, $32 million extension that made it seem like he’d be a key part of the Raiders’ future.

But things didn’t play out that way. By 2023, he had fallen out of the game plan, finishing with just 25 catches for 255 yards and no touchdowns—by far the worst season of his career. A year after giving him a big contract, the Raiders cut him loose in March 2024. No team picked him up, and just like that, he was out of the league.
Now, Las Vegas is in need of receiver help, and a reunion may be on the table. With Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker as their primary returning wideouts, the Raiders’ depth at the position is limited. Bringing Renfrow back could give them an experienced option in the slot as they work to improve their passing attack.

While a Raiders return seems possible, Renfrow has also visited with the Carolina Panthers. The South Carolina native could have the chance to play closer to home, though no deal has been finalized. Whether it’s in Las Vegas, Carolina, or elsewhere, Renfrow is taking the steps to revive his NFL career and prove he still has something left in the tank.
