Despite four goals in the match, SC Bengaluru and Delhi FC had to be content with a draw as Dempo SC rode on an early goal to beat Sreenidi Deccan.
Here’s what happened in the I-League 2024-25 on December 13:
Shimray, Binong score braces as SC Bengaluru and Delhi FC settle for a point
Sporting Club Bengaluru rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Delhi FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
Stephane Samir Binong netted twice for Delhi FC in the 34th and 52nd minutes, but SC Bengaluru’s Thomyo Shimray matched the Cameroon forward’s feat with two goals of his own in the 53rd and 75th minutes.
Delhi FC’s Tondomba Singh Naorem was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the dying moments of the match.
The draw meant Delhi FC remained in the ninth spot in the standings with five points from five matches. Newbie SC Bengaluru occupies the 11th position with four points from five games.
Dempo takes away full points from Sreenidi’s home
Argentine midfielder Cristian Damian Perez Roa converted from the spot in the eighth minute to propel Dempo Sports Club to a 1-0 win over host Sreenidi Deccan FC at the Deccan Arena.
The all-important goal was the result of a rather needless infringement in the box by Sreenidi custodian Ubaid CK, and Cristian Perez Roa grabbed the opportunity to bulge the net from the penalty kick.
Dempo, which has played all its five matches away from home thus far, now has 10 points and is temporarily placed at the top of the table. The equation, however, could change in the next few days when Inter Kashi, Real Kashmir FC and Churchill Brothers FC Goa play their Round Five matches.
Sreenidi, on the other hand, has six points after playing all five matches at home. The defeat against Dempo was its third and second consecutive at the Deccan Arena.
